THE NELSON RECITAL AND ARIA COMPETITION is an exciting event and has an unrestricted entry. There have been some exciting changes for 2011 - see the syllabus.
If more than 8 entrants there will be 2 recital sessions:
Friday Afternoon Recital - 2pm, 5 August 2010 to be held at Warwick House Friday Evening Recital - 7pm, 5 August 2010 to be held at Warwick House
Entrants are required to present a Recitalbracket of three items : a) Aria b) Light Own Selection c) an Art song in Any Living Language
The winner of the recital receives the Tima Consulting Recital prize of $1500. Second place holder receives the Tima Consulting Recital prize of$500. Thirdplace receives the Soundworkz Recital prize of $100. The adjudicator will select 8 performers for the Aria competition.
Saturday Night - Nelson Aria Competition - 7.00pm, 6 August 2010 to be held at the Nelson School of Music
Semi-finalists from the recital are required to present one Aria in the first half of the programme. Finalists are required to sing a second contrasting area when recalled in the second half of the evening.
Ist Prize: $5000 donated by The Dame Malvina Major Foundation 2nd Prize: $2000 donated by Sealord 3rd Prize: $1000 donated by Sealord Each other finalist receives $200 donated by Sealord Peoples Choice : $300 donated by Nelson Building Society
